The IIG Class of 2024’s Tribe Imbumba hosted a Padel Day fundraiser this Saturday 27 July with great success. This year’s class has committed to raising funds to purchase MiDesks for underprivileged children, continuing IIG’s tradition of giving back to the community.
MiDesk is a revolutionary wheelie schoolbag that converts into a desk and chair with a solar light and USB charging portal and is designed to address six of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in accordance with the 2030 Agenda. This innovative solution allows children to wheel their bag, chair, and desk to school and back home, significantly improving their learning environment.

The Padel Day event took place at Padel Perfect in Morning Glen Mall, Morningside, running from 08:00 to 18:00. Participants booked hour-long slots at R200 each, all proceeds contributing to the fundraising efforts. In addition to the games, a mobile food vendor was present providing delicious food, enhancing the event’s vibrant atmosphere. Finally, every player received a goodie bag following their match consisting of a water, notebook, pen, energy bar, cheddars biscuit’s, naartjie and a lanyard all sponsored by various companies.
Tribe Imbumba would like to give a special thank you to all the sponsors for our goodie bags.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from industry professionals, friends, and family members, all coming together to support a noble cause. The 2024 IIG president, Bukhosi Khumalo, and several IIG council members were in attendance, showing their support and commitment to the initiative.
The team was also lucky enough to have a guest appearance from The Insurance Apprentice’s 2024 winner, Temwa Nyirenda.
The presence of all these industry players added to the day’s excitement and highlighted the importance of the cause. #Linkup
