Natasha Maroun – Head: IIG Marketing Portfolio
Natasha has served on the IIG Council since 2018, first as the marketing councilor and later that year as the head of marketing, a portfolio that she has continued to fulfill this year.
Natasha is passionate about the industry, particularly the development of young talent. Having joined the industry as a graduate more than 25 years ago, she understands all too well what a newbie needs to get a head start in what has proven to be a fulfilling career to date. Having obtained her law degrees at the University of Johannesburg, Natasha started her career as a broker, moved to Hannover Re as a graduate trainee and, having completed the graduate programme, she spent a few years in the treaty department. Her next move was to Lireas where she represented the company on the Boards of the Underwriting Managers with whom they had partnered.
In 2010, Natasha obtained a shareholding in Gem & Jewel Acceptances where she assumed the position of managing director, a role she held until the company was sold to Bryte some six years later. Natasha’s next venture, in 2015, was to join Bryte as National Head of Jewellery, Fine Art & Specie where, in addition to this role, she has been caretaking the Specialist Motor division since January 2019.
Natasha is committed to attracting bright young talent to the insurance industry and currently has 12 Maharishi graduates assisting her in Specialist Motor. The Maharishi Institute, with whom Bryte has partnered to drive inclusive sector transformation, is a learning institution that offers free education to black South African youth who come from previously disadvantaged communities.
Personally, Natasha is passionate about family, all things bling and precious. She also enjoys travelling especially discovering new local spots, getting involved in community projects and hiking and walking.
