Neil Beaumont is Head of Business Development & Global Accounts for Chubb South Africa. He is responsible for the management and profitable growth of Chubb’s global accounts business in South Africa as well as the coordination of underwriting, claims and support functions in this area, ensuring high quality service is delivered to brokers and clients.
Neil joined ACE (now Chubb) in 2009 prior to the company’s acquisition of Chubb in January 2016 and has subsequently held a number of positions within the company. He was appointed Business Development and Global Accounts Manager for South Africa in January 2016 and has played a pivotal role in launching the company’s global accounts strategy in South Africa. Neil has in-depth experience and a broad understanding of the complexities involved in structuring global programs. He was worked closely with a number of large brands across the continent and has successfully grown the company’s portfolio and reputation as a leading global accounts insurance provider over the past two years.
Neil began his career at AIG in 2008 and has over 10 years industry experience. He has had the privilege of meeting and networking with industry peers of all ages, races and levels of seniority, from brokers to insurers as well as clients both large and small. His current involvement in the IIG has also broadened his network and pushed him to outperform. When asked why he serves on the IIG council, Neil had the following to say: Serving on the IIG council has given me the opportunity to give back to an industry that has supported me and many others over the years”.
Simphiwe Mtyali is currently the Africa Executive at Matrix Reinsurance Brokers. Her role involves marketing and business development of the company’s African portfolio. Her willingness to be one of the founding members of the first Matrix office on the continent demonstrates that she does not shy away from a good opportunity.
Simphiwe is a real-life example of the positive contribution made by the insurance and reinsurance industry to greater South Africa. Born from a township in Ekurhuleni, Simphiwe successfully secured a bursary from Alexander Forbes to study her undergraduate degree at The University of the Witwatersrand. On completion of her degree she began her career at Alexander Forbes as a graduate trainee.
She has gradually built her career through her service in leading industry corporates. “I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people who saw potential in me and seized the opportunity to empower me”. Eleven years on she has become a hybrid broker, well versed in the both insurance and reinsurance. She holds an Honours degree in Insurance and Risk Management as well as a Masters in Business Administration.
“Over the years I have become more of a social capitalist. I’m more aware of the importance of industry to enable those who are without, to give access to those who were denied and the importance of education in eradicating poverty. We do not exist in isolation therefore we cannot succeed in environments that are failing” she says. Her sentiments are emphasised by her decision to run for the IIG council and why the Impact and Transformation portfolio is a perfect fit for her. She wants to make her story multiply!
If Simphiwe is not dedicating her time to her clients or trying to change the continent one young adult at a time, she’s testing her endurance through road running or lifting barbells at her Crossfit box.
Nkateko Mayimele is a University of Cape Town BCom Accounting graduate. She went on to do her articles at PwC and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. She has also recently completed an INSETA Senior Management Program through GIBS.
While at PwC she was in the Financial Services Insurance and Investment Management Division, focusing mainly on insurance clients. Nkateko went up the ranks and left PwC as a Senior Manager to take up the opportunity at Sasria as the Head of Internal Audit. She is currently responsible for the strategic direction and effective functioning of the internal audit function, which includes reporting to the Executive team and the Board Committees. She’s also responsible for reviews at Sasria’s agent companies.
Nkateko has years of experience in areas including risk management, auditing and finance within the insurance industry. Through these roles she’s gained a good business acumen through exposure to a diverse number of insurers including some of the major insurers.
Nkateko joined the IIG in 2017 as a co-opted member of council. She became a member of council in 2018, within the impact and transformation portfolio. She’s responsible for the Roots and Wings Mentorship Program. Nkateko is a firm believer in people development, as a means for making a difference.
Outside of work, she’s married with a two-year-old daughter who keeps the family occupied with her love for outdoor activities. Nkateko’s appreciation for food has sparked an interest in occasionally exploring different recipes drawing inspirations from the cooking shows on TV.
