As I reflect on my journey through the Insurance Institute “Class Of” 2024 program, I am filled with a sense of joy, gratitude, and renewed passion for the insurance industry. This program has been a transformative experience that has by far equipped me with the useful tools to navigate through challenges I face in my personal life and meaningful skills which impact my daily interactions and my overall career progression.
I have always wanted to join the IIG program and procrastination has always been my BIGGEST enemy! Until I one day decided to fill in the application form and send it through. My managers and colleagues were more excited than I was when I received the acceptance letter from the IIG office, immediately at that moment I knew I took a step in the right direction.
I am always ready to raise my hand to learn or help make a difference anywhere I can, but this time I wasn’t sure what to expect from the ”Class Of” program. However, from the onset, it was clear that the “Class Of” program was designed to challenge, bring the best out of us and help us reach our true potentials.
We are halfway through the program and already I am a different person, the tools, and skills I have obtained up to date from our class sessions are making a difference in my personal life and leading me to a better path.
One of the most valuable aspects I love about the program is the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers and fantastic leaders the insurance industry has to offer! We are constantly being tasked to compete and complete various activities as a team, and I have to say that this has created a beautiful bond between us as candidates, which encourages collaboration, sharing of ideas, experience, and most importantly learning from each other. We are continuously challenged to step out of our comfort zone, embrace new perspectives and to develop a growth mindset.
So far, I have gained a deeper understanding of my strengths, areas for improvement, and a better approach to real-life situations.
Lastly, my takeaway from the “Class Of” 2024 program is to achieve a more strategic and an innovative approach to leadership, and the ability to be more confidant to lead and inspire others.
