Roots and Wings: First Review

Friday, 17 May 2024, marked the first review session for the mentors and mentees of the IIG Roots and Wings Program which was held at the Santam offices in Sandton.

The session allowed participants to engage with each other and touch base with the IIG council.  The aim of the event was to allow participants to give feedback on their progress as we enter the 3rd month of the program, but when 30 great mentors from the insurance industry are in one room, it was bound to make for an excellent networking opportunity as well.

Prizes were given for various categories but the “selfie awards” was the clear crowd favourite, where mentors and mentees who took selfies during their one-on-one sessions were sent to event organizers and the most creative were singled out.  See below for some of the “selfie” awards.

Inspiring presentations were delivered by mentees (Ayanda Ndlovu, Mathapelo Mailula and Ntusana Moloi) and mentors (Clodagh Da Paixao, Hennie Barnard and Koketso Shabalala), who spoke about their unique journey, the value of mentors and the places they can take you.

There is no doubt that the IIG Roots and Wings program for 2024 is stepping up to be a life changing event for many individuals and this event served as a reminder to everyone to make the most of it.
