The Roots & Wings Graduation took place on the 26 November 2020. This year’s graduation was unique as we had to adapt to the Covid-19 protocols where all our Mentors & Mentees were not able to be in the same room during the actual graduations. The limitation of having up to 50% room space occupied was adhered to while the graduations were streamed online to the Mentors in another boardroom
Those who attended were addressed by our President Darryl Grater followed by Natasha Maroun, Suren Kasil, Linda Coetzee, and the closing was done by Tshepiso Chocho. The ceremony continued thereafter with the graduates all dressed up superbly in their gowns whilst receiving their certificates. Despite the lockdown, the Mentors played a huge role in the lives of the Mentees and were extremely proud of their Mentees progress and achievement. The Mentees thoroughly enjoyed their journey and were grateful for the opportunity.
We were reminded of an old Chinese proverb:-
“If you want a harvest in one year, grow a crop.
If you want a harvest in ten years, grow trees.
If you want a harvest that will last a life time, grow people”.
Congratulations to all those who completed the programme and appreciation to the Mentors for giving off their valuable time.
