This month we touched base with more of the Roots & Wings mentees. Louisa Motsoene has shared with us how she is doing and remaining committed to her journey and the Roots & Wings Programme in her piece titled, My journey with my precious mentor.
Being part of the R&W programme has been nothing but a blessing in disguise for me, I have always been that one shy but bubbly kind of a person and always been reserved until I joined the programme. It has only been a couple of months but to me it feels like I have known my mentor like forever, I just don’t take her as a mentor but as a sister and a mother as well. She has helped me to discover a lot that I was not aware of especially personally. I had always thought that nothing is possible, but she came around and practically threw that thought out of the way within a blink of an eye.
I am really thankful for the opportunity of being her first mentee in the programme and looking forward to learning more than what she has taught me so far. Patience Baloyi has made this journey even smoother for me as she is one of the most amazing women I have ever come across in the field we working in… “after all it was love at first site for the both of us”.
Patience gave me a vision board task as hard as I thought it was going to be she made it way easier because it ended up being our vision board of “what do we both want to achieve out of this programme?”. I am not only learning things from her, but she is also learning a few things from me as well(smiles).
Once more thank you to the IIG for creating such a flexible and comfortable learning field for all of us.
