The 78th Annual IIG Dinner
The IIG is known for unswervingly setting the standard and raising the bar year on year. Our 78th Annual Gala dinner which was held on 19 November 2019, was spectacular and saw over 1400 delegates meet at the impressive Sandton Convention Centre, to celebrate another year of meaningful networking, impactful engagements and growth within our industry which we have been at the forefront throughout 2019.
The event was befittingly themed Ignite Your Inner Fire and this was beautifully captured in the design and theatre throughout the evening. The theme for the evening also tied in closely to our theme for 2019, which is Passion, Purpose, Pride. We are honored by the industry we are apart of and the evening truly reflected Passion for insurance, and in the words of our President, “we are intentional about making Insurance an industry of choice, and not one of chance”
Our deputy president, Darryl Grater, opened the proceedings by welcoming all the guests and leading us all in a short prayer and starters were served. Our president Carla Jordan followed with her yearend speech, in which she shared the great strides made by the #YourIIG in 2019. Some of these include the ILDP programme, The Class of 2019 which, for the first time since its inception in 2015, had two classes due to its increasing demand and popularity, Roots and Wings and our latest addition to our educational programmes, the IIG Academic programme, which has seen young learners graduate from the programme with an NQF level 5 certificate and for most of them, receiving employment opportunities for the very first time. Our president Carla also shared the successes we’ve had with all our networking events this year, including all the sold-out golf days, the Insights educational/networking events, the IIG International trip to Washington and San Francisco, the first ever IIG wellness day for all educational delegates. We had an exciting year with old and new initiatives, but we saw Purpose in all these events.
While we take the time to celebrate the journey and successes of 2019, we are excited and looking forward to creating more opportunities to engage, connect and grow in 2020.
