On the 8th of April, the members of the IIG Class of 2025 which comprised members from both Tribe Shoshin and The Strategic Elite, were joined by the IIG Council members for a meaningful site visit to the chosen partner for the year, the Taking Care of Business Non-Profit Social Enterprise. The visit offered the Class members a unique and powerful opportunity to witness, first-hand the impact of the organization’s work, understand its operational needs and connect emotionally with the cause they have all committed to support.
This experience left a lasting and positive impression on both tribes. Lezhan, from The Strategic Elite tribe, shared her reflections: “It was eye-opening, and I felt immense appreciation for what the organization aims to achieve. It was an experience I will think about in the coming months and going forth.” Her sentiments were echoed by Shoshin tribe member Mmakgosi, who spoke on behalf of both teams: “Both groups felt driven, motivated and filled with a sense of purpose to help contribute to an organization that aims to change lives for the better.”
Fueled by this renewed sense of mission, Tribe Shoshin took the lead in launching the first official Class Of fundraising initiative of the year, an Easter raffle that aimed to raise R15,000. Through commitment and teamwork, the tribe exceeded their goal by raising a total of R17,200 of which they achieved by selling an impressive 860 raffle tickets. This achievement not only marked a start to the Class Of fundraising campaign but also reflected the tribe’s commitment to making a difference.
On the 17th of April the raffle winners were announced with the 1st prize being awarded to Allen from Quiz Night SA, followed by Vuyiswa in 2nd place and David Liebenberg in 3rd. The success of the raffle has set a benchmark for future fundraising events and has inspired both tribes to continue pushing boundaries in support of Taking Care of Business.
Both tribes, now energized by their direct engagement with Taking Care of Business, are channeling their energy into a variety of projects and events coming soon. Each initiative is rooted in the shared goal of making a sustainable and lasting difference, not only for the organization they support, but for the communities that rely on it.
As the Class of 2025 continues its journey, the visit to Taking Care of Business stands as a pivotal moment, one that deepens their commitment, strengthens their unity, and reminds them of the real-world impact they are capable of achieving.
