Precious Nduli joined the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (IIG) in 2019 as a council member in the marketing portfolio. This year she was appointed as Head of the Marketing Portfolio with responsibilities for the IIG brand and communication strategy across our web, social media and events. The marketing team is also responsible for the monthly Informer newsletter. She is proud to be associated with the IIG because of the work done in the various education and mentorship programmes that ensures sustainability of the industry in line with our theme for this year of #InsuringTomorrow.
Precious is currently an Executive at Discovery Insure with responsibilities for Technical Marketing and Vitality Drive Engagement. Her background spans strategy, marketing, business and product development in the short term and long-term insurance industries. She holds a MBA from the University Of Cape Town Graduate School Of Business where she was a Bertha Scholar. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from University of the Witwatersrand and a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management from UCT. The Mail & Guardian recognised her as one of the top 200 young South Africans for 2018.
Charlene Houston is a co-opted member on the marketing portfolio and joined the IIG in 2019 with a focus on social media to ensure our brand is represented across all platforms. Charlene currently works at Nedbank Insurance as the Contingency Team Manager which is a very colourful role whereby the team supports various areas of the business in times of need and crisis. She has been in the insurance industry for 14 years with experience in the contact centre, claims, complaints, underwriting, quality assurance, and recoveries across commercial, short term and long-term insurance. Charlene has a passion for driving client experience and ensuring that everything we do is with the client in mind. She loves to develop and grow people and through this we can sustain and transform the industry and ultimately ensure that insurance is a career of CHOICE.
Charlene has Higher Certificate in Short Term Insurance, National Certificate in Contact centre management and various management certifications. In her spare time Charlene likes to paint, read a good book, and spend couch time with her husband and son. The weekends are however reserved for sports namely Formula 1.
Nolwazi Dladla, just like the meaning of her name, is enthusiastic, self-driven, hardworking and a strategic creative in insurance. She is motivated by philosophy, values and people. As an Internal Communications Consultant at Munich Reinsurance Company of Africa, she has an opportunity to continuously find innovative and human ways to encourage an awesome culture that keeps her colleagues going under any situation. Nolwazi has had roles in coordinating and brand research and discovered her passion whilst completing her undergrad and postgrad in BCom Marketing & Communications Management from the University of Pretoria. Nolwazi recently obtained her BA Honours qualification in Strategic Communications and Branding from Vega. As a Co-Opted Council Member in marketing, Nolwazi is extremely pleased to extend her expertise for the betterment of Insurance and is specifically focused on making a difference in the youth to not only see insurance as a field for actuaries, brokers and underwriters but as an exciting industry that continuously reinvents itself and has space for creatives who think out the box and solve solutions in unique ways.
Sarah Rule joined the IIG in 2020 as an Ambassador in the marketing team. She is currently the manager of operations at ITOO Special Risks and is passionate about developing people and improving efficiencies across the business. Sarah comes from a management consulting background and her experience includes, strategy formulation and execution, process development, project management and research. Sarah holds a Masters of International Relations from Harvard University and a Bcomm Management Sciences from Stellenbosch University.
In her spare time Sarah enjoys travelling, hiking and spending time with her husband and one-year old daughter. Sarah is excited to be a new member of the IIG and hopes to contribute to education and ensuring a sustainable future for the insurance industry.
Yolandi Rex is an Ambassador for the IIG in the Marketing Department and is responsible for the Insurance Leadership Develop Programme (ILDP) and Academic Programme.
Yolandi has been in the motor trading industry since 2004, her key role was as a Finance & Insurance Business Manager for an elite motor manufacturing company. In 2009 until 2012 she was recruited by the motor brand directly to be part of a project team in the United Arab Emirates to set up a Finance and Insurance Service Providing company that was directly affiliated with the motor brand. After her return to South Africa she continued her role as Finance and Insurance Business Manager and was later (in 2017) recruited by the Motor brand’s Financial Services Company again in their Insurance Department as Relationship Manager.
Last year Yolandi graduated top of her class at Gordon Institute of Business Science from the Insurance Leadership Development Programme offered by our own Insurance Institute of Gauteng and received the top student award. The rest of her education includes, Public Relations Certification, FETC Retail Insurance, FAIS Regulatory Exams RE 1 (Key Individual) and RE 5 (Representative).
Albert Einstein use to quote that “Creativity is Intelligence having fun” ! Although Yolandi has been in a sales environment most of her career she always seeks opportunities to be creative. Yolandi has an accredited qualification in music, and as a young adult she use teach primary school kids how to play the piano and on weekends earn additional income by being a pianist at restaurants. Both of her children are adopted. She believes part of the world will be a better place if each household just helps one child that is in need and be the instrument that can help a child have a better life. Yolandi’ s motto that she lives by, “.. In a world where you can be anything, be kind ..”
