IIG News

As I conclude my tenure as President of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng for 2025

I do so with a heart full of gratitude and a profound sense of accomplishment. This year, captured in our theme #2025&Alive, has truly embodied energy, resilience, and renewal within our industry.

To be “alive” in 2025 meant more than simply navigating change, it meant embracing it. We stood at the intersection of tradition and transformation, where the rapid advancement of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, challenged us to think differently, act boldly, and lead with intention. Together, we leaned into these opportunities, ensuring that our industry remains relevant, responsive, and resilient.

What made this year exceptional was not just the progress we achieved, but the people who made it possible. From our dynamic events and insightful Claims Day engagements to the lighter moments of connection during our quiz night, we fostered a community that thrives on collaboration, learning, and shared purpose. These moments reminded us that while insurance is a business of risk, it is ultimately a business of people.

I have been continually inspired by the passion of our members, seasoned professionals and young leaders alike who showed up, contributed, and pushed boundaries.

Your commitment to growth and excellence is what will carry this industry forward.

To our committee, partners, and supporters: thank you for your unwavering dedication and support.

Your belief in our vision allowed us to create meaningful impact and strengthen the foundation of the Institute.

As I step away from this role, I do so with confidence and optimism. The journey of #2025&Alive does not end here, it continues in the momentum we have built and the leaders who will take it forward.

Leadership is never a solo journey; it is a shared experience shaped by courage, connection, and purpose. It has been an absolute honour to serve, and I leave inspired by what lies ahead.

With sincere appreciation,

Wilmine Prinsloo – President: Insurance Institute of Gauteng 2025
