A great IIG initiative for raising funds was added to the calendar this year by the Class of 2022 education programme team The Show Up Resolution AKA T.S.U.R. The Class of 2022 decided to host a 5 aside soccer tournament at the Sandton Discovery Park, and with the support of the IIG we were able to spread the word for companies and individuals to “show up and come to play!”, after a hard 2 years of limited interaction and social engagements the Class of 2022 thought that incorporating South Africas most loved sport with raising funds for a good cause would make for a good day out.
On Friday, 7 October the teams kicked off, they were joined by the IIG President Thabo Twalo as spectator and avid supporter cheering them on. 9 Teams participated in a group stage, qualifiers and finals knock-out games.
Most of the tournament players and spectators were thrilled at being part of the event, but also realised that their fitness goals was something that still required much work.
Fitness goals aside, the event was “SUPER FUN” and the winning team, “CIB Team” was well celebrated with medals, a trophy and an exciting monetary prize.
Sincerest thanks to all our supporters who came out to the event, the tournament would not have been possible without the Discovery Sponsor Representative and IIG past president Darry Grater for sponsoring the venue and Mulberry Marketing for creating our marketing collateral.
As the year winds down the Class of 2022 will keep doing great things and flying the insurance flag high, a whopping R61 172 was raised through this event.
