The IIG Council annual strategy session is an important day in every councilor’s calendar. This half day session is where minds meet, plans and foundations are laid for the coming year, and Simphiwe Mtyali (from Howden Brokers and currently Deputy President), led us through this day. The entire council is excited about her 2023 plans for the IIG, some of which she will be sharing with the market through engagements on a one of one basis with businesses.
The venue for the session was at Jackal Creek Golf Estate in Northriding, the dress code for the day was business attire with takkies and everyone put their best foot forward, literally, and figuratively. The idea was also a pre-loading of the upcoming Annual Gala Dinner where the dress code will be black tie with a touch of takkies/sneakers.
A point of business on the agenda was also the annual vote for the new Vice President, and Bukhosi Khumalo (Marsh) received a unanimous vote from council, with everyone wishing him well on this new journey. Bukhosi has served on the IIG council for several years and has gained a wealth of experience on many of the IIG portfolios. He will be featured in our next edition of the Informer where the industry will get to know more about him.
The IIG 80th annual dinner was up for discussion next, and as it is the largest insurance industry gala event in South Africa, possibly on the continent, and we plan to blow attendees away on 1 December. Businesses and individuals who are interested in buying a table/seat can get in touch with the office info@iig.co.za
The last item covered about which the market is keeping a close eye on and already enquiring about was the 2023 IIG International Destination which will be announced to the market during the Inaugural Dinner during the 1st quarter of next year. With plans still underway to confirm this, businesses can start planning towards this as it is definitely happening with normalcy having returned.
2023 promises to be an amazing year for the IIG and we invite the industry to continue walking the journey with us with support in various ways as we continue to Connect, Engage and Grow as industry professionals
