‘To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him’ – Budha
#YourIIG hosted its first-ever Wellness morning on the 7th of September at the beautiful The Villa, Hollard. The theme for the day was “Retrotastic and neon colours” where funky leg warmers were to be seen everywhere! A variety of facilitators from Linda Coetzee & Associates as well as our main sponsor, Discovery, as well as co-sponsors; Emerald, Hollard, Munich Re and iToo ensured that all delegates could engage, connect, grow and relax!
On arrival, guests were treated to freshly baked muffins and on-the-spot brewed coffee from our baristas, proudly sponsored by Hollard. This was followed by a morning warm-up workout and a briefing around the arrangements for the day. Attendees were split into groups and had to make their way through four wellness stations during the morning.
Strength-based pilates was made easy thanks to Discovery sponsored yoga mats for all delegates, fresh fruits and bottle of water in the beautiful halls of the Hollard Villa.
The Everyday stress buster station provided helpful tips on how to stay grounded in stressful situations, getting to know your stress triggers and a fun game to see how others deal with stressful situations.
Our Class of 2019 proudly hosted our networking station in collaboration with iToo and Pablo Clark. This gave guests the opportunity to not only drive around a track in a Ferrari simulator but also support our chosen charity for the year (Ikholwa Children’s home) by buying a raffle to win a real Ferrari experience!
Last but not least we had our Healthy Body, Healthy Mind station. Here delegates learnt about better stress and health management techniques.
It was a tranquil Saturday morning and all guests had the opportunity to relax, laugh and network with fellow IIG programme attendees. Our ILDP, Class of 2019, Roots & Wings Mentees, Mentors, Graduate students, and council joined in on dressing up and standing up for their health and wellness.
Lucky draw prizes on the day included Aromadough packs, goodie bags, books on healthy cooking and exercise, running programmes and coaching sessions, to mention a few, There were also R1 000 Sportsmans Warehouse vouchers for the best-dressed male and female on the day.
This will definitely not be the last time the IIG hosts this event and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all sponsors who made this day possible. Discovery, for your willingness to invest in the health of the IIG members, the beautifully branded yoga mats and the support behind this initiative. Hollard, for the breath-taking venue, treats and staff that made all guests in attendance feel like they checked into a health spa for the day. Linda Coetzee and the team from Beyond Performance, who ensured everyone was educated, stretched and in charge of their own wellness. Emerald Risk, for being the fuel behind this idea and ensuring all guests had access to fresh fruit on cold-pressed juices. Munich Re, for our emcee and for making sure all guests stay hydrated.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun-filled day, and for taking responsibility of your wellness and knowing that it is really #YourIIG
