Insurance Leadership Development Program Returns Stronger Than Ever!

The short-term insurance industry in South Africa has long faced a pressing challenge, the underrepresentation of historically disadvantaged individuals at senior levels.

Recognizing the need for transformation, the Insurance Institute of Gauteng (IIG) has relaunched the Insurance Leadership Development Program (ILDP), partially sponsored by SASRIA and delivered by Henley Business School. Together, these partners are reaffirming their commitment to building a more inclusive leadership pipeline.

After taking a break over the last couple of years, the ILDP has made a powerful comeback. The new cohort of delegates is not only excited to be part of the program but also eager to embrace the opportunities it presents. Their enthusiasm reflects the industry’s anticipation for the program’s return and the vital role it plays in shaping future leaders.

The ILDP offers delegates a composite leadership education, enriched by an insurance industry contextual environment. This unique approach ensures participants gain advanced leadership skills while developing a deep understanding of the sector’s specific dynamics and challenges.

A hallmark of the program is its emphasis on peer-to-peer engagement. Delegates interact with colleagues from across the industry, representing diverse organizations and perspectives. This cross-sectional collaboration enhances learning, fosters professional networks, and creates a shared sense of purpose that extends well beyond the classroom.

Key Objectives of the ILDP

  • Develop strategic leadership capacity tailored to the evolving insurance landscape.
  • Empower historically disadvantaged professionals to advance into senior roles.
  • Strengthen industry resilience through diversity, inclusion, and innovative thinking.
  • Create collaborative networks that support long-term professional growth.

The ILDP’s return is more than the continuation of a program—it is a renewed commitment to excellence and transformation. By investing in people, the initiative invests in the future of the short-term insurance industry, paving the way for leadership that is representative, resilient, and ready to meet tomorrow’s challenges.
