Welcoming the IIG Class of 2026: A Journey of Growth, Impact and Purpose Begins

The launch of the IIG Class of 2026 was nothing short of exhilarating. A day charged with anticipation, excitement, and possibility. Hosted at the beautiful Old Mutual Insure offices, the official programme launch marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey for a new cohort of future impact players within the insurance industry.

From the moment the delegates arrived, the energy in the room was palpable. There was a shared sense of curiosity and eagerness as the Class of 2026 gathered for the first time, ready to step into an experience designed to challenge, grow, and inspire. Linda and Jenna from Linda Coetzee and Associates, set the tone brilliantly, elevating expectations and giving delegates a glimpse into what lies ahead on this transformative journey.

A unique and symbolic approach was introduced as delegates were divided into two groups, each represented by either a white or black cross tie. More than just a visual distinction, this division reflected two interconnected groups, one united class, committed to growth, impact, and overcoming new challenges together. It was a powerful reminder that while journeys may differ, the purpose remains shared: to engage, connect, and grow.

The IIG Class of 2026 programme officially commenced with the first sessions hosted at the IIG offices. Group 1 kicked off on 18 March, followed by Group 2 on 19 March, each day marking an important milestone in the delegates’ development journey. Both sessions opened with a warm welcome and introduction by IIG President, Jabulile Mtimkulu, whose words set an inspiring and purposeful tone for the days ahead.

It was both a privilege and an honour to be a guest speaker on both days.  An opportunity to give back, to inspire, motivate, and share in the excitement of what lies ahead for these delegates. The rooms were filled with eager, open minds. Individuals that will be future influencers, changemakers, leaders, and impact players. Dare I say all #AspiringTogether to make a meaningful difference within the insurance industry. A heartfelt congratulations goes to our IIG Impact and Transformation Portfolio, for hosting a vibrant and successful first run of the Class of 2026 programme.

One of the most powerful moments of the launch came as a heartfelt surprise: delegates were introduced to their fundraising initiative in support of Amor South Africa, by enthusiastic and altruistic Zingisa Mapasa. The challenge is to raise funds for the distribution of Sawyer water filters into communities in need of clean water. This sparked nervous energy, curiosity, and ultimately purpose. This initiative will broaden delegates’ understanding of how real change and sustainable impact are achieved through collaboration, effort, sponsorship, communication, and implementation.

The cause itself is truly noteworthy. With just one Sawyer filter providing up to ten years of clean water, the initiative represents a decade of life‑changing impact. A true legacy that extends far beyond the programme itself.

A proud introduction of the IIG Class of 2026: a group of future‑focused professionals ready to grow, challenge themselves, and contribute meaningfully, not only to the insurance industry, but to the communities they serve.
