#YourIIG caught up with Riccardo Raciti, IIG Co-Opted Member – Marketing & Brand Manager at Oakhurst Insurance. Here’s what he had to say..

Have you ever travelled overseas before and which is your favourite destination?
I have travelled extensively in my lifetime and count myself to be extremely fortunate. I have already attended two IIG International tours, the first took us to London and Munich and the second to Singapore and Hong Kong. It’s very difficult to choose one destination but I’d say just about anywhere in Europe is great to explore. Uganda is also a very special place and I will definitely go back someday.

What is your favourite thing to do on an aeroplane?
Read. I don’t do it enough ordinarily.

Why have you decided to join IIG Global 2019?
My reason is different from the other tour delegates. Oakhurst Insurance is assisting with the media coverage this year – I will be very busy ensuring that every moment has been captured and communicated to our peers back in SA.

If you had one travel tip for first-time travellers what would it be?
We will have some free time on the tour so use it wisely. Plan what you want to see or do because you may never have the opportunity to do it again.

What are you looking forward to the most on this trip?
The tour offers invaluable insights into other markets and the opportunity to forge long-lasting friendships with the tour delegates. I have remained in contact with the majority of the delegates I met on the 2015 tour and can’t wait to do the same this year.

Tell us something fun about yourself that most people don’t know?
I played drums in a band some years ago and have an electronic kit that I like to play.

What is the one thing that you cannot travel without?
My wife but in this case, it would be my cellphone so that I can use it to find interesting places to visit.

If you could live in any other country where would you live?
If I had it my way, I would do some summer hopping between Cape Town and Italy.

What country has the best food?
Undoubtedly, Sicily! This is a very unbiased answer.

What is your least favourite thing about travelling?
Long layovers, dirty airports and our currencies’ buying power.

How will u be putting the SA in the USA?
Having attended past tours, I noticed that the SA insurance industry is advanced in many ways and that we have a lot of valuable information to share at the company visits. As with most South Africans, we know how to bring the vibe and make new friends along the way. We will definitely be taking SA to the USA!

Stay tuned as we feature the next #IIGlobal2019 delegate..
