We caught up with Daphne Peter, #YourIIG Councillor Head: Education and Head: Risk Finance at Hollard. Here’s what she had to say..
Have you ever travelled overseas before and which is your favourite destination?
Yes, I have travelled overseas before and Xi’an in China was one of my favourite places.
This isn’t your first time on the IIG International, why have you decided to go again this year?
As Head of Education at the IIG, it is important to be engaged with global businesses, to learn and find synergies with what we do,
discover new learnings that we can either import back home or share with our global counterparties.
What is your favourite holiday destination?
I don’t have a specific favourite as I have many places on my bucket list, so I need to explore more to decide what’s my favourite.
What is the best way to sleep on a plane?
I, unfortunately, have no advice on this issue as I cannot sleep on the plane!
What do you like to do while travelling?
To be as relaxed as possible, so I read or listen to music.
What are you looking forward to the most on this trip?
It will be a first for me, travelling to the USA, so I am excited about everything!
Tell us something fun about yourself that most people don’t know?
Hmm, difficult one because I would say most people know me, but I decided to study a BCom this year to challenge myself!
Do you have a method of packing your clothes when travelling? Any packing tips for IIG International?
Yes, I am an organised packer, so I roll my clothes in my suitcase and I colour co-ordinate. So an as example, I pack 4 dresses that will match one suit jacket and a single colour shoe.
What is the one thing that you cannot travel without?
Wet wipes.
If you could live in any other country where would you live?
I am happy to live in any country where I have family or friends.
What country has the best food?
Can’t say because each country is so unique in how they cook, the mixture of spices, so it’s better to just explore and enjoy while you there!
Do you have a song that reminds you of a road trip?
Yes, ‘Take it Easy” by the Eagles!
What is your least favourite thing about travelling?
Not being able to sleep on the plane!
Any Airport hacks to share with fellow delegates?
Arrive early and always be aware of what you cannot carry in hand luggage and rather pack it in your checked luggage.
How will u be putting the SA in the USA?
By bringing my authentic self on this trip!
Stay tuned as we feature the next #IIGlobal2019 delegate..
