We caught up with Christine Rodrigues, Partner at Bowmans Law. Here’s what she had to say..

Have you ever travelled overseas before and which is your favourite destination?

Yes, I have. I can’t say I have a favourite destination as each city I have visited is different and distinct. But if I had to choose some of my best experiences I would have to say Madeira Island, Hong Kong, Dubai and NYC.

This isn’t your first time on #IIGlobal, why have you decided to go again this year?

I would be considered a “veteran” as this is my third tour. These tours are valuable as each time I travel with a different group it leads to personal growth and I get to interact with the most amazing people.

What is your favourite holiday destination?

Ballito and AfriSki in Lesotho.

What is the best way to sleep on a plane?

I am an insomniac so I really struggle to sleep and I don’t take any medication as I am paranoid about sleeping in an area with hundreds of strangers.

What do you like to do while travelling?

Everyone that knows me, knows that I love to shop. I am a brilliant shopper and know where to go for the best deals. But I also love to tour and enjoy the local food even if it may be unhealthy or strange!

What are you looking forward to the most on this trip?

Going to Silicon Valley! I am really interested in how fin/insuretech is disrupting the insurance industry and I am keen to see how the US marketed is being disrupted.

Tell us something fun about yourself that most people don’t know?

You will just need to get to know me to find out…

Do you have a method of packing your clothes when travelling? Any packing tips for IIGI?

I pack like guy and work out what outfits I need for the period. I travel light as I tend to bring back a lot of shopping…. I can leave SA with a measly 13kgs and come back with 50…

What is the one thing that you cannot travel without?

Cellphone, I like to be in touch with my family and of course, with my phone I can take tons of pictures.

If you could live in any other country where would you live?

Nowhere else… Although I love travelling every time I come back to SA I feel so privileged to leave in such a great place!

What country has the best food?

I would have to say, Portugal!

Do you have a song that reminds you of a road trip?

It’s corny… but… (I’ve had) The time of my life

What is your least favourite thing about travelling?

Being away from my family.

Any Airport hacks to share with fellow delegates?

I never travel with perfume but at the duty-free I ask for tons of samples…. Like that, I never have to worry about my expensive bottles being confiscated!

How will u be putting the SA in the USA?

Showing our American colleagues that just because we are really down South doesn’t mean we are not awesome!!!

Stay tuned as we feature the next #IIGlobal2019 delegate..
