My Journey: Through the Advanced Certificate in Management Practice through Henley Business School

My journey through the Advanced Certificate in Management Practice (ACMP) so far has been both a rewarding, challenging and importantly transformative experience. I joined the programme with the goal of strengthening my leadership and management capabilities in both my professional and personal capacity. I would raise my hand to say that the topic of leadership is a passion for me (not trying to sound cliché).

One of the aspects of this programme that I have appreciate most is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with delegates from different companies. Learning alongside professionals with diverse backgrounds and experiences has created a valuable networking opportunity that extends beyond the classroom. Listening to my fellow delegates’ real-life experiences has broadened my perspective and challenged me to think differently about my own approach to leadership.

One of the most valuable learnings I have taken away from this programme is the importance of creating a thinking environment as a leader. I have come to appreciate that effective leadership is not about having all the answers but about creating the conditions that enable others to think, contribute, and perform at their best. The way we listen, communicate, ask questions, and respond to ideas has a significant impact on how confidently our team members engage and solve problems. Ultimately, a thinking environment leads to better decision-making, stronger collaboration, and improved outcomes for both individuals and the organisation.

The programme has reinforced that effective leadership goes beyond managing people or achieving results. It is about self-awareness, emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, and creating an environment where people feel valued and empowered. These lessons have encouraged me to become a more intentional leader, both professionally and within my community.

As I continue through the programme, I am growing in confidence as a leader. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from experienced facilitators and alongside such an inspiring cohort. The ACMP is not only expanding my knowledge but also shaping me into a more reflective, adaptable, and impactful leader.

I look forward to continuing this journey, embracing every opportunity to learn, and using the knowledge and skills I gain to make a meaningful contribution to my organisation, my community, and those I have the privilege to lead.
