“…it has been fun and comforting to have an amazing mentor who supports you in every way emotionally and at the same time gaining more information and learning…”
The IIG recently sat down with two mentees on this year’s Roots and Wings programme to get a sense of who they are, now, and why they chose to be part of the programme.
First up we have Nonkanyiso Ngcobo from Discovery Insure, mentored by Wilmine Prinsloo from King Price Insurance.
“Nonkanyiso is a young lady from KZN permanently living in Johannesburg ,I love food and safari and mostly you will find me with my family and friends.
Why Roots and Wings?
“I became part of the Roots and Wings because I realised that I needed professional guidance and direction ,I felt like my career needed a direction/push ,hence Roots and Wings .”
“The Mentor and a Mentee programme gives more individual attention to the Mentee and that what I realised that I actually needed ,regarding my career growth within the insurance industry.
“My experience so far has been very informative ,my mentor has been able meet with me every month ,and that has been exciting we have discussed and layered out of what we will be doing on our next meetings .”
At the same time it has been fun and comforting to have an amazing mentor who supports you in every way emotionally and at the same time gaining more information and learning .
What I am still hoping for is for the goals that we have set to be achieved i.e me finishing my first book that I am currently reading that my shared with me( The one Minute MANAGER KEN BLACKCHAD)and ticking all the boxes from my Vision Board that I have set specifically for 2022.
“I am steadily on my way
to reaching my full potential.”
Kaylene Wellcome from Tracker, mentored by Marlon Bowes from Emerald Risk Transfer shared this with us:
“I am Kaylene Wellcome from Tracker.”
Why Roots and Wings?
“The Roots and Wings programme has always been something that I wanted to be a part of as it provides a platform for mentees to reach their full potential. The Roots and Wings program offers mentee’s the opportunity to close certain gaps in knowledge, skills and personal development through the guidance and expertise of the mentors. “
“This journey has been great thus far, a true learning experience. I am learning to move more out of my comfort zone. I am steadily on my way to reaching my full potential. I am Looking forward to the learning and guidance my mentor continues to offer. “
We wish Nonkanyiso, Kaylen and their mentors, Wilmine and Marlon and a beautiful learning journey ahead as they continue to #ShowUp not only for themselves, but for our industry.
