IIG Night Golf – 2 June 2022

The Insurance Institute of Gauteng can lay claim to hosting the best night golfing event in the non-life insurance industry, the venue was first class and second to none for such a fun nighttime event and as usual, the staff and event organisers delivered the event with excellent world-class service.

Hosted at The Randpark Club the greens were immaculate and cut to precision, in the Jacaranda room players were welcomed by partner sponsor Genasys with beanies fitted with headlamps at registration, and our main sponsor for the night IUM prepared goodie bags with glow-in-the-dark golf balls, glow sticks and snacks with Glasfit an activation partner sponsor providing water bottles to players.

Our Master of Ceremony Antonia Oakes was as elegant as ever and steered the night to success. Mr.Thabo Twalo, the president of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng welcomed all the players and sponsors from various organisations with a warm reception and a lovely meal to kick off the event.

At the dusk of a wintery evening, the air was crisp and the night was cold but the atmosphere was just right for a night filled with activities, as the sun was setting one could see what appeared to be a half-moon and a sky filled with an infinite galaxy of stars lighting up the greens. Avid golfers bracing the cold weather as they posed for various pictures captured by Chris Weasels the IIG’s resident photographer, see our Facebook Album here.

The golfers teed off and braved the cold night, IUM our main sponsor had warm beverages at their activation stand with a sign reading: “if you’re not driving come on over, it’s the fairway to start your round”, promoting responsible drinking and of course offering a range of alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages.

Our activation partners King Price Insurance, Glass Fit, Genasys, Class of 2022, and Old Mutual Insure fueled the players along the course with outdoor gas heaters, refreshments and various fun-filled activities such as Nintendo Wii and games. The class of 2022 raised a whopping R17 500 and are extremely grateful towards the Sponsors and the Golfers who generously showed up to the occasion and made a difference in the lives of the students of #YourIIG.

This was sure a night to be remembered as golf balls illuminated the night sky of Randburg as if it was New Year’s eve fireworks, after which the Thabo Twala, the IIG president closed off the evening with a graceful thank you speech.

It was evident that the Insurance Industry has showed up, IIG looks forward to hosting many more events like these where the industry can come together to have fun, network, grow, and make a difference.
