Roots and Wings Second Review 2022

On the 16th of September this year all roads lead to the Santam Insurance offices for the Roots and Wings second review session for the year.

Thabo Twalo, 2022 President of the IIG opened up this year’s session, welcoming guests and thanking our programme sponsors. Everyone’s faces beamed with eager anticipation for the day’s proceedings as Linda from Linda Coetzee and Associates engaged with the crowd as the programme facilitators and went on to introduce the speakers for the day.

The speakers comprised of both mentees and mentors who took to the stage to share their insightful, daring, sweet, inspiring and most memorable experiences.

Mentees:

Sinenhlanhla Nene

Xolisa Khumalo

Warren Michael

Ntombifuthi Ndlovu

Sarafina Sibiya

And mentors:

Bevan Manchest

Wilmine Prinsloo

Some thought-provoking and heart-warming insights were shared by Thabo Twalo and Gerhard Genis, who also offered to share their experiences and lessons they’d learnt along the way with both mentees and mentors alike.

The day would not have been complete without colleagues engaging in discussions, learning from one another, and continuing to grow, as individuals gathered around in groups and shared some Pearls of wisdom by Linda Coetzee and Associates. Motivational, real, awe-inspiring are just some of the words one could use to describe the discussions during these sessions. From mentees overcoming fears and palpable air of compassion and support, one cannot deny the impact the day’s proceedings had on all that were present.

The time had come to award the mentorship pair who shared the most part of their journery with the world, letting us in on all the fun and learning involved in this beautiful experience. The winners this time around were none other than mentee Elizabeth Ngaruwe and mentor Asiya Swaleh. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

In the spirit of #ShowingUp, the Class Of 2022, another one of the IIG’s educational programmes, were given an opportunity during the session to promote an initiative their working on to raise funds for charity.
