On 23 July 2026, leaders from across the South African insurance landscape gathered at The Forum | The Space in Bryanston for the annual IIG CEO Roundtable, proudly sponsored by iTOO Special Risks.
Held under the theme“The Power of Partnership: Creating Shared Value Together,” the event provided a high-impact platform for strategic reflection, meaningful collaboration, and candid industry dialogue. Bringing together CEOs, senior executives, and emerging leaders, the Roundtable explored how partnership, trust, and shared value can shape a stronger and more sustainable future for the insurance sector.
In an environment marked by economic uncertainty, technological disruption, and increasing operational complexity, trust has emerged as one of the industry’s most valuable assets. A central message from the morning was clear: no single organisation can address the challenges facing our industry in isolation.
The real strength of the insurance sector lies within its interconnected ecosystem. Sustainable progress depends on meaningful collaboration between insurers, reinsurers, brokers, UMAs, regulators, and service providers. By embracing a shared value approach, organisations can move beyond traditional measures of success to foster ethical leadership, drive innovation, strengthen customer trust, and create long-term societal impact.
Thought Leadership and Meaningful Dialogue
The programme featured distinguished business and industry leaders who brought valuable perspectives to the discussion.
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Melani Prinsloo, who challenged delegates to rethink leadership in a rapidly evolving environment and highlighted how collaborative ecosystems can unlock greater value for organisations, customers, and communities alike.
The thought-provoking panel discussion featured renowned business leaders Dr Reuel Khoza, Gareth Ackerman, and Justin Naylor, expertly facilitated by Nyimpini Mabunda. Together, they explored the importance of purposeful leadership, trust-based partnerships, responsible use of data, and the role of collaboration in driving sustainable growth and innovation across the industry.
The panelists challenged delegates to consider how shared value can be embedded into business strategy, while encouraging greater collaboration across the insurance ecosystem to address industry challenges and seize emerging opportunities.

Bridging Generations: The NextCo Presence
One of the standout features of this year’s Roundtable was the strong presence of NextCo/NextGen leaders, emerging executive leaders who attended alongside their CEOs.
In line with the IIG’s 2026 vision to#AspireTogether, the inclusion of future industry leaders created valuable opportunities for mentorship, knowledge-sharing, and intergenerational dialogue.
The active participation of these emerging executives was a powerful reminder that the future of South African insurance is being shaped by a diverse and capable talent pipeline committed to driving innovation and positive change.
Celebrating Partnership and Shared Purpose
An initiative of this scale is only possible through collective commitment and collaboration.
A sincere thank you to iTOO Special Risks for their continued partnership, unwavering support of the Insurance Institute of Gauteng, and commitment to fostering leadership development within the industry.

We also extend our gratitude to our sister institutes, industry associations, and partner organisations whose attendance reflected a shared commitment to advancing the insurance profession through collaboration and collective leadership.
Finally, thank you to every CEO, executive, and NextCo leader who invested their time, insights, and experience in making the Roundtable a meaningful and impactful event.
As we look to the remainder of the year, the conversations sparked at the CEO Roundtable should serve as a catalyst for action. The challenge now lies in transforming ideas into tangible partnerships, fostering greater collaboration across the value chain, and creating shared value that benefits businesses, customers, and the wider communities we serve.
Together, we have an opportunity to strengthen trust, unlock innovation, and shape a more resilient and inclusive future for the insurance industry.
