“Work hard and play even harder”, they said!

As we approach the last quarter of this wonderful and successful year, we reflect on the value of being intentional about crafting a successful journey, both in your career and personal sphere.  The Roots and Wings journey doesn’t happen by chance, it’s through intentional engagements where both mentors and mentees address practical challenges experienced and collectively deriving resolutions where possible.

It’s evident that every interaction the mentees have with their mentors enables a pathway of personal and professional transformation, which has been seen via graduations, promotion, and self-confidence.  Most mentees have affirmed that they don’t recognize themselves anymore since the inception of their Roots & Wings journey. They explore all elements of a wholesome life; which also involves embarking on recreational activities which they wouldn’t have ordinarily taken into consideration before this journey.

One may think that mentors know everything; however, we have witnessed interesting selfies taken at various hangouts after the business of the day has been taken care off. The greatest message mentors impart is the importance of a work-life balance which many within our busy industry have neglected – some psychologists believe that if you work hard, you must compliment that with playing even harder!

Some of the conversations unpacked in these meetings include but not limited to the impact of social economic constraints that have directly impacted the short-term industry; ideal future leadership landscape and digital transformation just to mention a few.

It’s important for mentees to fully comprehend the dialogue on these topics so they can position themselves close enough to making influential decisions within organizations they work for. They are always encouraged to challenge the status quo and importantly, position themselves to become game changers within the industry we proudly work for.

As we draw nearer to the tail end of this 2023 journey, we look forward to hearing and seeing the true value which has impacted the lives of our future great ambassador and leaders.
